‘Going green’ is the way of the future. While quilts are not destined for the landfill, quilters are indeed interested in consuming products that are produced mindful of our earth. The bamboo used in Legacy Bamboo Blend is produced from 3-4 year ‘new’ bamboo from regions in Sycuan and Yunnan Province, China. The whole distilling and production process in the China Bampro Textile plant is a green process without any pollution. The supplier company manufactures bamboo fiber strictly according to ISO 9000 and ISO14000. It produces natural and eco-friendly fiber without any chemical additives. The bamboo content in this batting provides a softer product than an all cotton batt. Bamboo is biodegradable. Bamboo owns a unique anti-bacterial ability. Notable of bamboo fiber is its unusual ability to breathe and its coolness. It has good moisture absorption and ventilation making garments cool. When combined with natural cotton, bamboo softens the batting and will be a delight to handle while sewing and create a comfortable quilt or garment. Legacy Bamboo Blend is needle punched onto a very lightweight sheet of scrim/polypropylene. The scrim is lighter than most in the industry today, thus making hand quilting much easier, while adding strength for hand and machine workers alike. Strength has not been compromised in any way by using this ultra-light scrim. The batting will not stretch and can be stitches up to 8”-10” apart. Enjoy creating garments and quilts using this innovative new product knowing that it is easy on your skin and easy on the environment and easy to work with while your work of art is under construction! Testing has proven shrinkage to be no more than 2% when the finished quilt is laundered and dried in cool temperatures in a gentle cycle. However, should you use hot temperatures while washing and drying, the quilt could shrink 3-5%. Fabrics can shrink up to 3%. SEE LAUNDERING & CARE.
